Because the machine is a Genie Excelerator and will run slow the first couple times that you operate it. Then it will run open much faster. Thanks for your question.
Thanks Bill…this helped a lot!
Thanks Bill

Liftmaster is still better
Great video. Thanks! How woud you adjust it is unbalanced? I guess 1 qtr turn in either direction for both sides?
This was an outstanding series of videos. Bill took all of the guesswork out of play. I highly recommend you watch this series if you are going to tackle this job on your own. Thanks Bill!!
Wow. Great video, I am a garage door opener enthusiast and I have never seen a strut so bent on the bottom panel of a garage door.
Thanks for a job well done and great advice on garage door spring replacement. I find this video to be the most thorough and helpful. You delivered a very nice educational tool.
Awesome instructional, Bill. You took the “SCARY” out of SPRINGS! Plus, I’m all about saving money. Thanks!!
Thanks so much for your feedback i’m glad it helped
Thanks for viewing and glad to be of help
common practice on wood doors to bend the strut to help avoid sagging. in my opinion it doesn’t work lol
Thank you for the kind words and glad it helped
Thats correct and perfect balance seldom happens even on a new door
Liftmaster and Genie both have their reasons to love em and hate em
Bill does an incredible job explaining torsion spring replacement on garage doors with his clear speaking voice, easy to follow directions and great video! If other repair videos were as good as this one, home owners could handle just about anything to maintain their homes. The time Bill has taken to help others with this video is greatly appreciated and needed in these financially difficult times!
Thanks! Excellent video.
Excellent series! Thank you for sharing this info. When I called around for estimates, the local companies made this sound like I could lose a limb if I tried it myself. I understand the physics and dangers behind torsion springs, but you gave clear instructions on how to accomplish the job safely. Thanks again.

@john600rr Thank you
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I was able to fix my grandmother’s garage door since she engaged the lock and tweaked the whole frame to almost oblivion. She’s on a fixed income, so I thought I’d give this a shot myself and was able to fix it. It’s working great.
Thanks so much for your time and expertise.
@cencalyanksfan you’re welcome glad it helped
