The cable on this garage door came off the drum and when the home owner pressed the remote control the door went up cock-eyed….the rollers came out of the track and the only thing holding the door from collapse was the j-arm to the garage door opener. These people did the right thing…..they left the door alone and called for help. I’ve seen homeowners damage the door sections by trying to get the door down themselves. As bad as this may look there was no damage to the garage door…..the only parts I replaced where the rollers which where cracked – although they probably where not cracked from this incident…. this is usually a fairly quick and inexpensive repair. Some times the horizontal track gets bent but usually this can be straightened out without having to replace the track…….Most of the time when I reset a door like this one the customer will be like “Its never run this quiet” ….probably because there was an underlying condition to the door that caused the malfunction in the first place….and that gets fixed when we reset the garage door properly.
