(2/2) (the double track you mentioned) and should have been a zero-clearance style.
I have had to correct installs like this before, and it required the entire garage door system be replaced.

  2. jwatwater says:

    omg, wht drunk installed this?

  3. Memphis35 says:

Why are the beams up on the roof? haha

  4. Lotum4n says:

Try the door at least to show if it opened or not or are we just picking apart someones work ? i would like to see what a not properly installed door does when opened pff

  5. GordonGFox says:

this door did operate / open, problem is the sensing eyes will not prevent door closing on a child or pet, in addition since door was missing the top plate, if door hits something the top connection will pop loose

  6. Lotum4n says:

Oh yeah now i remember seeing those sensors down at the bottom LOL yeah this is a messed up installler haha i hope it was on his own house that he installed this : ) 4/5 nice post

  7. JohnnyKennedy93 says:

@Memphis35 because some systems do not allow the opener to function without the beams installed. So, evidently this guy didn’t want them in place and to overcome the problem he put them on the roof. Which I guess is kind of retarded on it’s own!

    5* for awesome installation skills!

  8. yankedriver says:

He has a 9 foot high door mounted in an opening meant for an 8 foot high door, the upper horizontal tracks should be 12″ above door, that’s why the top rollers are not attached to the door correctly.

  9. ParkerKelsch says:

so what is the top plate you speak off. what should it look like

  10. riderhino1 says:

i see this every day. I t is probably done by mesa GD. bunch of clowns

  11. GordonGFox says:

it is amazing how many times you see this when looking for it

  12. GordonGFox says:

    @Lotum4n
the door works, it opens and closes, it is just that if it hits something the door / mounting bracket will get damaged / bent out of place

  13. chicagolandhobby says:

    @yankedriver
    I think it’s a regular 7 foot door. I don’t think that Craftsman has a rail extension.

  14. feistyferret says:

Another example of “you get what you pay for”

  15. patriotbri says:

The door is an Overhead Door mdl 311 which is 7′ tall for those in the peanut gallery. It seems to be poorly planned (should have used the low head room track, referred to in the video). The Craftsman operator was clearly installed by a non-professional. Probably could have been mounted below the spring to avoid notching trusses. Many do it yourselfers like to mount the photocells out of the way so as not to be a pain from stuff getting in the way (like a toddler or a cat).

  16. kitkoyanagi says:

Its called a quick turn bracket!!!

  17. GordonGFox says:

    Quick Turn Bracket……………Thanks

  18. callmebackfriday says:

Amazing cut the beams in half to install garage door

then the house fall down. LOL.

    What are they thinking?

  19. GordonGFox says:

we tend to see a common occurrence for a trade to be focused on their particular skill and be ignorant of the ramifications on other trades / systems

  20. CaptainHowdy71 says:

they notched the ceiling joist so they can beat the clearence. hence the quick close fixtures instead of low headroom track.

  21. CaptainHowdy71 says:

@chicagolandhobby they do. sears just dont tell people that.
